Commander Kirk Hove Wants You To Attend the 41st Annual S.A.L. ConventionCommander Kirk D Hove, here-by calls for the 41st Annual Detachment Convention. The Convention shall be held, July 24 thru July 26 2009 in the Creole Room of the Wyndham Hotel and Convention Center, 4747 South Howell Avenue Milwaukee, WI 53207 (877) 999-3223 for the following purposes:
ü To complete all unfinished business of the Sons of The American Legion for the Fiscal year 2008 – 2009.
ü To vote on all resolutions properly presented to the Detachment Convention.
ü To consider and/or make amendments to the Constitution and By-Laws.
ü To elect, a for a one year term, a Detachment Commander, (4) Vice Commanders, Finance Officer, Chaplain, (2) Sgt-at-Arms.
ü To elect National Convention Delegates and Alternates. Elections of the above will take place on Saturday morning July 25, 2009 at 10:30 A.M.
ü To Appoint 12 District SAL Chairmen, unless the District is organized and has a Commander.
ü To present Detachment Awards to Squadrons and Individuals.

Convention Changes41st Annual Detachment Convention July 24-25-26 Milwaukee
Do not miss your opportunity to meet the National Commander Tommie Cisna and your fellow members, elect your new officers, join the committees and commissions, learn more about the Sons of The American Legion programs, pick up awards, and participate in our evening outing. Convention Registration: $25.00 due July 15, $30.00 after July 15. The Convention Delegate Certification letters were mailed to your squadron adjutant. Make sure you fill this form out and return it promptly so Chris at headquarters can print your delegate and alternate cards. Remember in addition to the delegate certification, delegates, alternates and guest need to register with the convention, using the Registration Form. For room reservations at the Wyndham please call: 1-800-558-3862 Reference American Legion Room Block. Delegate cards will not be made unless your registration fees are paid.
NOTE CHANGES to CONVENTION: Our convention will start FRIDAY at 3 PM July 24, 2009, we will have guest speakers, the Officers Development Team will have a short workshop on Committees and Commissions, we will appoint our convention committees, credentials and election chairmen, and still have time for the social events. Saturday we will start at 8:30 and proceed with some of our distinguished guests, and as in the past ELECTION of Officers will start at 10:30 AM, 11:30 we will recess for our Awards Luncheon, then reconvene at 12:30 , we will conclude with the installation of the newly elected, and have our Parliamentary Procedure Workshop and membership workshop, and then even more social events.. Sunday will be the Memorial Services, the Post Convention DEC and the Officers Training. Hope to see you there.

Remember that each squadron is required to submit their consolidated report even if they have no activities (fill out the top and write "no activities" on the bottom). Elections and the Squadron Information Form: When your squadron holds an election (as it should annually), you should submit a new Squadron Information Form. Even if the same people are your Commander Adjutant and Advisor, these forms must be filled out annually. The information you provide on this form is used for our mailing lists, and our officers to contact you. DO NOT leave blank fields on the form. If you do not know someone’s address, phone or email address ASK THEM. The Squadron Information Form, is our only means of keeping in contact with your squadron.
