Sons of the American Legion - Detachment of Wisconsin

Tomorrow is Flag Day, and I know many Squadrons are holding flag disposal ceremonies or participating in parades or other events, make sure you invite your local news media to attend.  You should also start a log or journal for the 2010 consolidated report forms. Each time you or your squadron does anything related to the report jot it down. Here is a simple checklist to follow:

·         When did it happen

o    Date

o    Time

·         Where did it take place

o    Town

o    Address

o    Location

·         Who was there

o    Names of workers

o    Names of dignitaries

o    Approximate number of attendees

·         What took place

o    Why did you have this event

o    What was the reaction of the audience

o    What was the outcome

o    How much time was put into the event

Now you can submit this information to the media, and they can help you build a story.  You will have the necessary data for your consolidated report form, your historian can use the notes to make a history book and you will have a record for future reference.

Thanks for all that you do.

Michael Lawler, Detachment Adjutant
