"Wisconsin Sons of The American Legion Scholarship"

The Sons of The American Legion Detachment of Wisconsin sponsors a $1000.00 scholarship.

The recipient must be a current member, in good standing of the Sons of The American Legion, Detachment of Wisconsin, with no less than (3) consecutive years of membership.

The applicant MUST be in his LAST year of HIGH SCHOOL when applying or within one year after graduation from high school.

The applicant must have expressed an interest in and an intention to pursue a course in a (4) year degree-granting institution or (2) year program at a technical college. The applicant must submit a copy of his letter of acceptance to an accredited institution.

The following factors will be used in selecting the recipient.

  1. Scholastic Record
  2. Contributions to School and Community
  3. Essay
  4. Financial Need
  5. Squadron Involvement

The amount of this Scholarship shall be $1,000.00 and is payable to the school upon verification of recipients actual enrollment at the institution. Payable in two (2) $500.00 installments. Payments must be applied for and paid within one year after award of the scholarship.

Applications MUST be received at Detachment Headquarters, no later than April 1st of each year, in which it is to be awarded.

This scholarship does not have to be awarded each year, if applicants are not qualified.
