Katrina Relief Efforts
The National Emergency Fund program is perhaps
one of the most visible illustrations of "veterans helping veterans"
that the Legion has to offer. The first NEF checks and debiting
of NEF grants to member’s credit cards were just released today
(9-9-05). To let our members know of our direct aid through the
Emergency Fund, we have intensified networking efforts with the
Salvation Army, Red Cross, Department of Veterans Affairs, Department
of Defense, First Army and a host of others who may come into contact
with our members who have been displaced by Katrina and who are
now living in other states.
We are accepting tax-deductible online contribution donations to
the National Emergency Fund at this
link,
by calling directly at 1-800-433-3318 or by mail
using the NEF Donation Form and sending to: The American Legion, National

FOURTH PLACE IN THE NATION??????
Bad news to report on the Nation Membership trail,
we have been gunned down by France again.
As you may remember we have a little wager going
with the Detachment of France and our very own Department Adjutant
Bill West, that we will beat the Detachment of France at membership.
Well, France is in First Place with 95.3%, North Dakota, Kansas and
then Wisconsin in Fourth Place with 87.7 %. We must "Cowboy Up" and
show those Detachments that we know how to "Round Up" membership.
Are you up for the challenge?
The positive end to this story, we are still
First Place in the Central Region!!! And Central Region is in First
Place, so we know we can do it!!! Sign up a member today.
New Squadrons!!

Squadron #538 Carlton, in the Ninth District
